Electrode placement (use the ring electrodes)
- E1 (black): Proximal phalanx of the index finger — want to keep away from the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint skin, as this may pick up motor conduction artifact.
- E2 (red): 3-4cm distally from E1.
- Ground: Dorsum of hand
Stimulation site
- (-) Cathode (black): 14-cm proximal to E1. Note: Make the 14-cm line to the middle of the wrist crease, then proximal along the median nerve.
- (+) Anode (red): proximal (in line with the median nerve)
Additional Information
- Type of stimulation = Antidromic
- May need to place the recording electrode (E1) more distally if you are getting too much motor volume-conduction
