Stimulate 4-5cm proximal to E1

Electrode placement (use the bar electrode)

Stimulate 4-5cm proximal to E1
  • E1 (black):  Extensor indicis proprius (EIP) muscle (about 2-3 finger widths proximal to the ulnar styloid process on dorsal forearm)
  • E2 (red):  Distally along the distal forearm
  • Ground:  Dorsum of forearm (between stimulation and pickup sites)

Stimulation sites

  • Four sites
    • Forearm
      • (-) Cathode (black):  4-5-cm proximal to E1 over the lateral (with the hand pronated) ulna.
      • (+) Anode (red):  proximal (in line with the radial nerve)
    • Elbow
      • (-) Cathode (black):  Between the brachioradialis and biceps tendons
      • (+) Anode (red):  proximal (in line with the radial nerve)
    • Below spiral groove
Between the brachioradialis and biceps tendons
      • (-) Cathode (black):  Lower 1/3 of posterolateral humerus
      • (+) Anode (red):  proximal (in line with the radial nerve)
    • Above spiral groove
      • (-) Cathode (black):  Upper 1/3 of posterior humerus
      • (+) Anode (red):  proximal (in line with the radial nerve)

Additional Information

1/3 of the way up the posterolateral humerus
    • 95904 Nerve conduction, amplitude and latency/velocity study, each nerve; motor with F-wave study, each nerve; sensory
    • 95934 H-reflex, amplitude and latency study; record gastrocnemius/soleus muscle
