Electrode placement (use the ring electrodes)
- E1 (black): Proximal interphalangeal joint (PIP) of the little finger — want to keep away from the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint skin, as this will likely pick up motor artifact from the abductor digiti minimi (ADM).
- E2 (red): 3-4cm distally from E1. Usually almost hanging off the distal phalanx.
- Ground: Dorsum of hand
Stimulation site
- (-) Cathode (black): 14-cm proximal to E1 (along the medial edge of the forearm)
- (+) Anode (red): proximal (in line with the ulnar nerve)
Additional Information
- Type of stimulation = Antidromic
- May need to place the recording electrode (E1) more distally if you are getting too much motor volume-conduction
